we switched to ubuntu (gnome), and Thunderbird, sorry but we needed to get on
with our work.

As a consequence, I can neither confirm nor negate this question.

However, there are persisting problems with Kontact in (K)Ubuntu
9.04/9.10:

1) in the folder column - cannot permanently switch on 'view columns/total'. At
At Every newstart 'view columns/total' is disappeared.

2) in de message list, sender was moved to the first item, before subject. The
same problem as 1) appears here: At newstart it has to be done again

3) in KUbuntu 9.04. Kmail pops up at login, however, there is nothing in
Autostart:

jo...@wanderer:~$ cd .kde
jo...@wanderer:~/.kde$ ll
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 jorge jorge   6 2009-09-03 14:21 Autostart
lrwxrwxrwx 1 jorge jorge  23 2009-08-11 14:36 cache-wanderer ->
/var/tmp/kdecache-jorge
drwxr-xr-x 2 jorge jorge  39 2009-09-10 22:03 env
drwx------ 9 jorge jorge 102 2009-09-03 14:21 share
lrwxrwxrwx 1 jorge jorge  18 2009-08-11 14:36 socket-wanderer -> /tmp/ksocket-
jorge
lrwxrwxrwx 1 jorge jorge  14 2009-08-11 14:36 tmp-wanderer -> /tmp/kde-jorge
jo...@wanderer:~/.kde$ cd Autostart/
jo...@wanderer:~/.kde/Autostart$ ll
total 0

but that was not the problem: when switching it off, it keeps popping up again.
As a consequence I switched back to gnome. Now it works.

4) on a netbook (eee 1005) kmail is not usable (e.g. takes three minutes to
start) on gnome (ubuntu 9.10) (we had to use 9.10, because the network
drivers would not work on 9.04 (kernel 2.6.28). Kubuntu 9.10 is not usable.
did not even bother to note all the bugs, and switched back to gnome.

I would rather use KDE, but at the moment it does not seem to be good enough
for a productive working environment.

thanks anyway for all your work
best
jk
