Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: e2fsck-static

Running

fsck -cv /dev/hda6

on Sony Vayo PCG-Z1VGP with Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 (Herd 3) to mark bad
blocks on my filesystem.

On a "normal" HDD, it will run fine, but I have some bad blocks on my
disk. When it gets to read them, the above command will halt into a
continuous loop, giving next message:

[xxx:xxxxxx] Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0. Some program might be
trying access hardware directly.

Note that CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK will start blinking simultaneously, and
the system will come unresponsive, only the above message will go into a
continuous loop.

Normal result expected should be something like: IO error, cannot read
the block xxxx.

Booting with Ubuntu 6.06 live CD, I can correct the problem, but not
with Feisty (either installed or live cd).

** Affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
