I can confirm something similar (as no evidence of kernel oops) Have just installed 9.04 (32bit) on a Compaq A900 (A975EM) and although it appears to suspend and resume fine the first time. The second time it appears to suspend but does not resume. This is with all standard updates applied as of 7th September so kernel version 2.6.28-15-generic. Further details may be possible but this is a friends computer and I have only very occasional access.
