This bug also occurs in Karmic Alpha 5. I have tried the no backfill x-server, however it seemed that the X-Server will eat more and more memory over time.
I'm really puzzled since this worked flawlessly in 8.04 :(. Are we sure this is an issue with the X-Server? Or does it lie with the ati drivers? I'm asking because presently this bug is attached to the fglrx package. Maybe it needs to be assigned to X server so the appropriate people get noticed about this bug?
