Thanks for your bug report. It is possible that there is not driver support for your soundcard with the kernels on Dapper and Edgy. If possible could you download Feisty Fawn Herd 3 and report back the results of trying audio in the live CD environment? The output of 'lspci -vvn' when using Feisty will be helpful also.
