I've been experiencing this as well. I've marked the bug I filed as a duplicate of this one (sorry, I used the wrong keywords at first and did not come across this bug).
Basically I installed from the alpha 3 cd and upgraded to alpha 4. I experienced this bug. I tried removing xsplash from the recovery console (which also removes ubuntu-desktop), but that did not ameliorate the behaviour as I was simply left with a black screen with a spinning cursor and a screen that occasionally flickered on and off. It seems to me in my amateur opinion that the problem is not with xsplash, but rather with the new way of starting X in ubuntu or perhaps the radeon/radeonhd driver. I've also tried to install from an alpha 4 livecd, but I experience the bug before it can load. FGLRX is most definitely not installed. ** Attachment added: "lspci -vvnn output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31253876/lspcivvnn.txt -- Xorg freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421225 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
