Public bug reported: Hi,
I would like to see a meta-package for linux kernel headers. I have several apps installed which require the header files of the kernel, eg, virtualbox: * Running DKMS auto installation service for kernel 2.6.31-9-generic * vboxdrv (3.0.4)... vboxdrv (3.0.4): Installing module. Kernel headers for 2.6.31-9-generic are not installed. Cannot install this module. Try installing linux-headers-2.6.31-9-generic or equivalent. [fail] * vboxnetadp (3.0.4)... vboxnetadp (3.0.4): Installing module. Kernel headers for 2.6.31-9-generic are not installed. Cannot install this module. Try installing linux-headers-2.6.31-9-generic or equivalent. [fail] * vboxnetflt (3.0.4)... vboxnetflt (3.0.4): Installing module. Kernel headers for 2.6.31-9-generic are not installed. Cannot install this module. Try installing linux-headers-2.6.31-9-generic or equivalent. [fail] run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common I need to manually install the header files, if a meta-package would become available, I only need to have the linux-header meta-package installed and when a kernel upgrade is needed, the header files will be installed as well, making sure virtualbox and other can make use of them. My request is to mimic the linux-image meta-packages for the kernel headers. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: needs-packaging ** Tags added: needs-packaging -- [needs packaging] linux-headers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422446 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
