I thank you for your reply, although I do not really have a clue what it means, I am presuming the update was changed. In desperation I disconnected my hard drives and booted from Ubuntu 7.04 after a couple of attempts to boot, I was able to boot into safe mode. I sent my request for help from there. After shut down I reconnected my hard drive and a normal boot took place, from there into recovery mode and now all is good, I hope it stays that way.
