Maybe a connected problem with normal mode: I used a simple four frame throbber (http://img.xrmb2.net/images/527616.png - 48x48px) and the last frame is shown only a split second (see attachment). I guess you don't notice it with more frames as the frame interval gets shorter with every additional frame.
