Please can we re-open this bug report. Sound in vmware server still does not work when using PulseAudio. In fact after a recent update, I've found the only way to get sound to work is to kill pulseaudio before starting a virtual machine: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7861663#post7861663
