Yup... basically, I go into "Language Support" in the system menu and it tells me that an extra language pack needs to be installed for full Chinese support. I procede to hit the install button only to come up with the same error as above.
Furthermore, I then have to proceed to do a "sudo aptitude reinstall language-pack-zh-hant language-pack-zh-hans language-pack-gnome-zh-hant language-pack-gnome-zh-hans" to remove the packages before I can even continue to use apt-get or aptitude - as due to the failed install of said language pack, the packaging system breaks! I have drawn the following conclusions from the errors printed in the terminal (some of which are printed in Chinese): The package "language-pack-gnome-zh-hans" is dependant on "language-pack-zh-hans-base" The package "language-pack-gnome-zh-hant" is dependant on "language-pack-zh-hant-base" The package "language-pack-zh-hant" is dependant on "language-pack-zh-hant-base" The package "language-pack-zh-hans" is dependant on "language-pack-zh-hans-base" And it seems that the above-mentioned "language-pack-zh-hand-base" package cannot be installed. As "guanche" mentioned above, this pretty much renders Karmic useless to Chinese ubuntu users as half of the programs used are still in English - this is a VERY serious bug that needs sorting out pronto! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help - I am happy to do some testing. -- package language-pack-zh-base 1:9.10 failed to install/upgrade: 正试图覆盖“/usr/share/locale-langpack/zh_TW/LC_MESSAGES/sed.mo”,它属于软件包 language-pack-zh-hant-base https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
