I saw those when I tried it out, but I chalked it up to oddities with the theme I was using.
Is the scrollbar present when you open one of the test documents? I notice that it's missing. I guess I'll take a look at the differences in the dependencies and see if there the Jaunty version of gtk+ or something available in Karmic.
