Jaap: which version of Ubuntu are you running? I think you aren't running feisty, as Seb and me.
In feisty, you just need compiz-core, compiz-plugins and compiz-gnome (or kde), but not compiz-settings. If you are running other Ubuntu version, could you tell us which one, and the compiz version? Have you installed them from the repos, or from where?
