I installed Karmic on a spare HD, and have suspended and hibernated my
T40 half a dozen times now, without incident.

Upon resume from hibernate, I'm presented with _exactly_ where I was
before - logged in, and all. I thought hibernate brought me back to a
password prompt, but I may not be remembering that properly (it's been
a while since my last hibernate).

So far, things are headed in the right direction. I hesitate to say
yet that Karmic (or perhaps, the new kernel) fixes this hibernate bug,
but I plan on using this system for a couple days to see what happens.
