zardoz - I don't think there's been any real work on _this_ particular bug. I hope it's gone on unnoticed by me, attached to another bug. But regardless, the behavior still exists. I've basically given up on hibernating or suspending with 9.04 on my T40.
One of these days I hope to nuke my machine and do a complete re-install, to see if something got knocked out of whack (along with a number of other things that happened during the upgrade), but I haven't had the time to deal with that just yet.
