jpilot uses a different infrastructure for syncing than kpilot does. kpilot syncs your Palm PDA info into the KDE contact and calendar applications. Are you using Kubuntu or straight Ubuntu? Kubuntu uses KDE (and kpilot) while regular Ubuntu uses Gnome (a fairly different user interface system). If it's Ubuntu that you have, it's not surprising that kpilot would not work.
If you do have Kubuntu, you can follow some of the discussion on this thread to get kpilot working: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199624 And yes, akonadi is a necessary prerequisite. The fact that it is not automatically installed when you get kpilot is a bug IMO. ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #199624 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199624 -- K-Pilot crashed upon launching the application https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/409630 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
