I would just like to add that I suspect that the problem remains, unless something was done specifically to address this in the 1.5.0.8 package. (The problem always was specific to the Ubuntu packages, so I doubt upstream fixes will make any difference.)
I don't have easy access to the Ubuntu 1.5 version of Firefox anymore, though.
