Tried to reproduce this with current up-to-date Intrepid, and failed. So the issue seems to be fixed in the current stable release. I couldn't try with the latest development release, as Karmic Alpha 4 is pretty much defunct on the system in question: * Startup takes ages, with over 80% of the processes waiting for I/O on the CD according to top. * VT7 displays what seems like random characters in random colors with random properties, instead of any kind of graphics. * Text console doesn't scroll, so I have to switch console to and fro to see the output of any command I type.
