Found a solution that will at least temporarily allow using rdesktop with this patch per http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=977663&page=2 shamelessly (ripped from Xires' post). Modifying as specified below will at least allow users to work around this bug (or at least I haven't hit an issue yet). The latest Debian unstable package is another option...
