Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ppp

Trying to connect to my workplace from Ubuntu without success.

Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10

Case #1
-------
Ubuntu 9.10alpha with latest updates.
Using NetworkManager with USB Mobile Broadband Modem to connect to internet.
Seems like my internet connection is NAT-ed, because web site
whatismyipaddress.com reports IP address different from my interface's IP
address.

All attempts to open VPN connection using network-manager-pptp fails.
Modified /etc/ppp/options with no success.

Case #2
-------
Windows XP on same laptop with same USB Mobile Broadband Modem.

Using ConnectionManager with USB Mobile Broadband Modem tool to connect to
internet.
Same situaton as in Ubuntu: seems like my connection is NAT-ed.

VPN connections is opened successfully using Windows XP built-in VPN
connection tool.

---
I think this is not a firewall/NAT issue. May be is, but this is not only
issue. There is something else:
If windows can connect in same situation, i think linux must be able too.

I captured network traffic using Wireshark in both cases & compared as far as i
can understand.
There was some differences. I tried to change pppd options in /etc/ppp/options
file to get next
pppd conversations as close as i can to Windows case, but without success so
far.
My be there is another pppd options i must enable/disable (my fault). May be
there is missing feature in pppd.

capture.
