Same here for my Monitor. I have an Acer Aspire 5535 with an ATI HD3200. My monitor is set to sleep after 7 minutes on battery but only goes black and is backlit hence saving absolutely no power at all. Haven't tried in KDE yet to see if it works ok in that but will report back. I'm using Jaunty 64-bit by the way.
