** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: hplip

It does not matter what method is attempted to install the plugin for
the Laserjet cm1312 MFP on Ubuntu 9.04. None results in a installed
  driver.

  I have tried:
  - Installing from the button in the HPLIP Status Service.
  - Installing using hp-plugin from the root command line
  - Manually downloading and executing hplip-3.9.2-plugin.run from
linuxprinting.org

In all of these cases hp-check still reports that the required plugin is
not installed, and scanning does not work.

+ There is a similar, but different bug reported here:
+
+ I do not believe these are the same, as the above lists a failure of hp-
+ plugin to execute the downloaded plugin file. The problem reported in
+ this bug is different, as even if the downloaded plugin file is executed
+ manually, the required plugin appears to fail to install.
+
