Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I'm running 2.27.4 on 32-bit Karmic.

Going to "View->Previous Entries" to read chat logs, sometimes I see two or
even three entries of the same (single) IM. As an example:
"nearly every weather system does
nearly every weather system does
sometimes producing doughnut-shaped rain showers
sometimes producing doughnut-shaped rain showers
that's always cool
that's always cool
I'm going out
I'm going out"

Each of these messages was only sent once, through Empathy, with no
other IM clients open, so if the connection was being duplicated,
Empathy was doing this. Also, within the conversations themselves, these
messages only appear once. I only use AIM, so I don't know if this
happens on other protocols.

I suspect that this is related to a crash I keep getting where Empathy
does not indicate that a person I do not have a conversation open with
has tried to IM me (I'm trying to collect more data on this before I
report it), I click on their screen name to IM them, and Empathy crashes
when I send them an IM, because contacts of mine who have not been
affected by this crash do not have double entries in the chat log.
However, it could be that these people are just the ones that I IM most
frequently.

** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
