What is the current status of the upstream code for this? In particular,

Has it been submitted upstream to any subsystem for the kernel or the
kernel itself?

Has it been submitted to GregKH's staging tree?

What has the response been from upstream?

This page http://gl860.sourceforge.net/ gives instructions for building it
differently depending on
the device to be supported. This isn't an option for a driver which will be
included in the kernel.
Is this documentation still accurate?

There is a strong preference to have this upstream before we include it
in the Ubuntu kernel.

I chatted with Maco and she asked about having it built as a dkms module - that
is something that
is available as an option for the developer - by definition drivers that are
built and delivered using
dkms are not part of our kernel delivery.

Thanks
