Hi ! First sorry for my poor english I experience the same trouble this morning on a windows PC. It was during a Themes update and it appears that some of them update the search box information during the update. For me it was Aero Fox Silver theme update (I don't use it) . When you go on the web site's theme : http://www.virtusdesigns.net/ you find that all the themes from this site update your search box and add and place ask.com search service as default one.
Maybe your theme is one of them ?
