Public bug reported:

Using Karmic i386 Alpha3 alternate install cd image. On three separate
installations (2 VM and 1 bare hardware) I have noticed that an
otherwise uneventful installation using default install options results
in a root partition fsck on first reboot, with corrections to the
filesystem reported by fsck. Subsequent reboots result in an apparently
fully functioning system. My only guess thus far is a possible
incomplete umount of the target, leaving it in a dirty state. Willing
to provide any install logs or additional info as requested.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
