Martin Albisetti: in my opinion this indeed is a usability annoyance for
new users.

Take me (and probably the orginal reporter MÃ¥rten aswell) as an example:

We are Swedish people but we prefer the US english install, so we choose
english language during install.
However we tell the setup tool we live in Sweden, so timezone is configured
correctly.

Time is normally shown in 24 hours in Sweden but not in the the setup.
Also dates is displayed in US format which is wierd to read for us.

To fix this, we need to add this to /etc/default/locale (and reboot):

LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8"

When done, Evolution and other software will display time & date correctly.

The best solution for this would be for the setup program to
automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during
setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default".
