System info: Asus EEE PC 1000HE running Ubuntu 9.10 .
There is no sound when the gnome-volume-control-applet has its output
level set <= 80% (-17.83 db). The volume level is raised very rapidly
from 80% to 100%.
The control should instead make use of the entire setting range.
