Public bug reported:

In case of Nvidia 5200 series, Jockey/ restricted hardware drivers
available window list just "version 173" instead of "version 173.14.16".

There's only way to find full version number out is by install the
driver and keep looking for version number at the system reboot.

But by that time is too late as Nvidia 173.14.16 renders Karmic Alpha 3
installation unusable.

Possible solutions:
(1) To offer the restricted hardware drivers ONLY if the drivers are for the
installed kernel (2.6.31-3 in this case) and not gonna render the system
unusable.
(2) Show the full version number so user can decide whether to install the
restricted driver or keep using the system without installing restricted
hardware drivers (at least this way system will be usable).

Thanks.

BTW the latest drivers available at Nvidia is 173.14.20 (
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/173.14.20/ : released on
June-27, '09)
