Public bug reported: I use a laptop on two main sites. On both sites there's a printserver.
Whenever I want to print something and the default printer (actually the host it's attached to) isn't available, the printing UI freezes until some timeout occurs. This is very unfortunate because the whole application becomes unresponsive and I can't even quickly close the dialog to continue with whatever else I'm doing. I guess the problem lies in how the dialog determines whether a print(serv)er is online. Right now I'm on the site which has the system default printer online. It wasn't when I wanted to print a page and that, too, resulted in a freeze. $ lpstat -t scheduler is running system default destination: HPLaserJet6L device for HP_PSC_1210: ipp://192.168.1.10:631/printers/psc-1200-series device for HPLaserJet6L: ipp://192.168.1.11:631/printers/HP_LaserJet_6L_LPT_parport0_HPLIP HP_PSC_1210 accepting requests since pon 20 jul 2009 17:59:09 CEST HPLaserJet6L accepting requests since sre 22 jul 2009 12:06:33 CEST printer HP_PSC_1210 is idle. enabled since pon 20 jul 2009 17:59:09 CEST printer HPLaserJet6L is idle. enabled since sre 22 jul 2009 12:06:33 CEST I run Ubuntu 9.04, My installed libgnomeprintui2.2-0 version is 2.18.4-1. ** Affects: libgnomeprintui (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- offline printers cause dialog freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402965 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
