Public bug reported:

I use a laptop on two main sites. On both sites there's a printserver.

Whenever I want to print something and the default printer (actually the
host it's attached to) isn't available, the printing UI freezes until
some timeout occurs. This is very unfortunate because the whole
application becomes unresponsive and I can't even quickly close the
dialog to continue with whatever else I'm doing.

I guess the problem lies in how the dialog determines whether a
print(serv)er is online.

Right now I'm on the site which has the system default printer online. It
wasn't when I wanted to print a page and that, too, resulted in a freeze.
