Public bug reported: Installed Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit (kernel 2.6.28-12) on a PC featuring an RTL8185L ( http://152.104.125.41/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&ProdID=35 ) based Wi-Fi PCI card (believe it to be an Edimax EW-7326Ig: http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=259&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=44 ). The card is detected out-of-the-box. Network-Manager detects Wi-Fi networks correctly (including used encryption). But when trying to connect, it fails every time be it WEP, WPA or unprotected. Same thing with WICD and Wifi-radar.
I downloaded and compiled driver from the Realtek website: http://152.104.125.41/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&ProdID=35&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#352 (version 1030 at the time of writing). Result: The system won't boot again, hanging on RTL driver loading. I don't have much info since it's a relative's PC so I don't have easy access to his computer. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- RTL8185L based Wi-Fi PCI card doesn't connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
