I lost both wifi and ethernet with the upgrade from 8.10 to 9.4, this
leads me to believe it is related to more than the kernel. As per
Manoj's suggestion, I tried the latest images from  7/15/09.

I now have working wireless, though I am still using the old ath5k
module.

I also have working wireless after upgrading to the 2.6.28-13-generic
kernel image.
