So tried out both kernels. Looks like they both are on par with each other. Though the problem still exists.
No real good info from the logs though, I need to get a usb serial connector and see if I can get anything through that. I'll attach what I got from the machine after rebooting it. @Jesse -- pretty sure it's not using VBIOS POST as I have a laptop GM965 and it is waking up without issue.
