Unfortunately with Herd 2 Alternate the situation is worse... on the
x206m the installer did not get beyond the keyboard selection screens
(did not get to "dectecting hardware"). The "console" VT shows rapidly
repeating "kernel: not found" messages.

The CD verifies OK, but not on the x206... attempting to verify the CD
on the x206 results in the same problem.

The system has one SAS drive on the Adaptec controller (with 6.06.1
AMD64 Alt. installed), and one SATA drive on the motherboard integrated
controller.
