inserting module ath_pci fails with "unknown symbol" during startup or manually . problem occured after last (kernel)update 2.6.24-23 to 2.6.24.24. Distro: Ubuntu 8.04 pci identification: dmesg |grep -i atheros [ 27.300597] wifi0: Atheros 5424/2424: mem=0xf6000000, irq=17 lspci |grep -i ethernet 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) In true this card is labeld by gigabyte and identifies as above. Workarround is using the older kernel, for me.
