Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

When opening synaptic from the Ubuntu menu, or from gnome-do, the
password dialog opens up, and when the password is correctly entered,
synaptic does not open up.

When "gksu synaptic" is run from the terminal, this is shown:

               usern...@host:~$ gksu synaptic
sudo: sorry, a password is required to run sudo

Synaptic will open when "sudo synaptic" is run from the command line.

I think it must be something to do with gksu, as when I open a .deb
file, it opens up, but when "Install package" is clicked, it closes
without installing, however they can be installed using "sudo gdebi
package.deb" or "sudo dpkg -i package.deb" are run from the terminal.

I am running Karmic 64-bit.
