i had this same issue with 9.04 wubi, wired network with ubuntu, and
none with XP (a network cable is unplugged)... i freaked out, and
removed ubuntu, and still had no network in xp (i have 2 xp installs on
this box)... i read the posts here, and unplugged the power to the box
in question for a bit, and now its fine and dandy... i am planning on
ubuntu running alone on this box, so i won't be using the wubi
anymore... i use a switch, and i could not see the activity light at all
when the computer would boot during the problem, but right after the
power cycle, i saw the light on the switch at boot time, before xp
loaded... hope this is helpful for someone about to throw something
expensive looking through a window...
