** Summary changed: - synaptics touch pad(laptop) clicks when i dont want it to + synaptics touch pad(laptop) clicks too easily
** Description changed: - a couple updates ago my synaptics touch pad just started pasting things - that i never even copied whenever i reply on these forums or when im - talking on gaim.. it just decides it wants to paste when i try to move - the mouse pointer.. then when im reading a webpage and i move the mouse - it just starts to highlight everything out of nowhere.. im not telling - it to click, but it swears thats what im doing + By default in Ubuntu the touchpad always detects taps. In other + operating systems tap detection is disabled when users are typing. This + is currently achieved using an insecure mechanism - a shared memory + region. This shared memory region is disabled under Ubuntu because it is + a possible security hole. The driver should be changed to allow tap + detection to be controlled via the X protocol, which would allow this to + be done securely, and would make it work correctly. - so i tap the pad just to move the mouse and it pastes, or highlights.. - when im goign though the menu's (applications places system) it selects - the wrong program when i lift my finger and put it down again (after i - reach the end of the touchpad and need to scroll further) - - its driving me nuts, i even did a clean install and it still does it.. - tried gsynaptics and when i tell it to disable tap click it still does - it - - ive tried max tap time=0 and that would work for awhile then the - problems would still occur.. this is a very criplling problem that didnt - happen early on in the dapper stage + There is a workaround that can be used: setting MaxTapTime 0 in the + xorg.conf. -- synaptics touch pad(laptop) clicks too easily https://launchpad.net/bugs/47971 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
