This is still a problem.  Confirmed on etch with an upgraded kernel
(linux-image-2.6.26-bpo.1-amd64).  The binary does not include X
support, and the compiler/linker fails to find the applicable X
libraries, even when told explicitly where they are.

As a workaround, install the "xsel" application, and then use the
(modified) pwsafe emacs mode to pipe the usernames and passwords to
xsel.  pwsafe mode was originally developed by Stefan Reichör.  A
modified version that uses xsel is attached to this comment.
