I just installed Ubuntu 9.04, Jaunty Jackalope. I installed gtkpod. I clicked on Add Folder, and got the same messages as the other poster. I completely uninstalled gtkpod, and installed gtkpod-aac. I clicked on Add Folder, and got the message seen in the attachment. Since the Ubuntu 9.04 formatted the disk, there was no previous gtkpod release. There is no obvious way to set the path, in the attached screen shots.
