Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I can't find debug info. On 6/20/09 I had some fixes to install and a
new kernel fix, I remember as I had to reboot. Pidgen fails to connect
to anything and I don't see any artifacts in system log. One other
similar issue say, "oh, it fixed itself". Nice trick...does anyone know
how it fixed itself?
