Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal and in the window that opens type in "pidgin -d >~/pidgin.log 2>&1" (without the quotes). This will start Pidgin; use it and get it to "close automatically". When that's done, come back here. Click on "Add a comment/attachment" and in the Attachment box below the text field select file "pidgin.log" which you'll find has appeared in your home directory.
