I think I solved the problem. There is an interaction of the media player
"totem" with OO. When I played internet radio or audio files this problem
appears.
The solution sounds a bit odd. In totems preferences (for Gnome 2.26.1) under
"display", there is an option "screensaver can start even when audio is
playing". (Sorry, I if I do not hit the original english text, I just translate
it from german to english).
Anyway, choose this option and the problem in Open Office does not pop up any
longer. I don't know if this happens with other media player too.
It is just a guess - maybe if only ALT-F (for e.g.) could open the File-Menue,
it won't pop up even when the option in totem is not chosen.
