I'll just mention that I tried booting this machine with mem=392M. This makes it quite sluggish, but it is still moderately responsive with 2 epiphany tabs open and 7 firefox tabs open... much better than with the full 4GB, but running memtester -m 3600 above. I would expect that the speed would be exactly the same (except for having memtester using 1 of my two cores, but that shouldn't make much difference when IO bound).
