Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd; Description: Ubuntu 9.04; Release: 9.04
The source package you found the bug in: alsa-base 1.0.18.dfsg-1ubuntu8
I expect to happen that my Empathy voice chat partner hears my voice. He does
not.
I expect to happen that Voice recorder shows the recording level and records my
voice. It does not.
I expect that it not only shows a small noise when recording.
I am using this headset on a Thinkpad T42 successfully.

'~$ alsamixer' shows the gain to 100% and that 'Mic' is not muted.
Let me know what additional information you need in order to repair this
software error.
'~$ pavumeter --record' shows a small noise and not my voice excursions as well.

** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
