I've been using 2.6.30 for some time now, and this bug is fixed (and several other wireless bugs are, too). It's definitely worth upgrading just for the wireless fixes, but there are other important ones too: for instance, the kernel panics you can get using ext4 with 2.6.28 are fixed in 2.6.30.
