I've uninstalled and reinstalled on my workstation, but still have no (automatic) menu item.
I've also installed on my laptop, also running Jaunty. In that case the menu item does appear automatically as expected. So the problem is peculiar to one of my systems. Of course that is the one I actually have a scanner attached to... If others aren't having problems with this I don't think we need to chase it too hard as I've edited the menu manually ;- I'm still a little puzzled though, as it is reproducible on the one machine.
