I'm having a similar problem with Jaunty: Occasionally after shutdown my
laptop won't power off. Please tell me if I can help in resolving this
by providing more information or trying a different kernel version!

If I use "shutdown" from the gui or invoke it from the command line (with power
down and halt options) it doesn't power off the machine.
