With Ubuntu 9.04: Screen freezes upon confirmation of 'Apply Change' in
Applications>Add/Remove>[named application to be added]>Apply
Changes>Apply.
Early package additions after initial installation of 9.04 did not
affect system, only evident after recent 'Update' download.
Synaptic Package manager also showing similar problem, screen goes dark
and stops
Recovery only by restarting pc.
