I had the same problem on jaunty too, both with the version present in the official repo and the more recent getdeb package. motop...@drake:~$ meld Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/meld", line 38, in <module> gettext.bindtextdomain("meld", paths.locale_dir()) AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'locale_dir' so I edited /usr/bin/meld and changed the first line from #! /usr/bin/env python to #! /usr/bin/env python2.5 I think because my default python version is 2.6 and without being indicated, the program use it, reporting the error.
